| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description As governments across the world know all too well, building and maintaining an army is an expensive business. With their military bills extending into the hundreds of billions of dollars it was only logical that rather than owning an army, they should simply rent one. Mantel Global Industries stepped in to fill the void. Thus, the UN and NATO - along with dozens of national armies - were disbanded, with all peacekeeping activites outsourced to Mantel's private army. Now, in the year 2048, a problem has arisen in the Boa region of South America. A dangerous guerilla faction called The Promise Hand, led by a vicious maniac known as Skin Coat, is doing bad things to good people.Thanksfully, in typical fashion, Mantel has sent in a sizable force to iron things out.Among these soldiers is Sergeant Shane Carpenter, and thanks to Nectar he's going to have the time of his life. What is Nectar?Mantel has always done everything in its power to ensure that its soldiers are not only safe, but having fun along the way. Thus, they developed a "nutrional supplement" called Nectar for their boys to take in the field.Nectar improves their sight, aim, speed, and strength. It also enables Mantel soldiers to endure - and even enjoy - any personal injuries, as well as dish out more damage to the bad guys.Perhaps most famously of all, Nectar increases each soldier's awaremenss of his surroundings in combat, allowing him to "predict" impending danger. The experience is so vivid that the boys describe it as a "sixth sense," but of course there's nothing supernatural about it. It's simply a case of stimulating the right parts of the brain. This, according to some critics, is "dangerous and irresponsible." Those people have no idea what they're talking about.
